Valuation

There are numerous "back of the envelope" methods to value a business. Most of these methods involve calculating the earnings per share or EBITDA of a company and using an industry specific multiplier to arrive at a value.

Most professional valuations are prepared by valuators where they estimate the highest price to be paid by a willing and informed buyer to a willing and informed seller in an unrestricted market where there is no compulsion to act and both parties are dealing at arm's length.

Do you know what your company is worth today? What would you like it to be worth five years from now? What's the plan to get there?

It's good to have a general idea on what your company is worth at any given point in time. But the true value of your company is whatever a third party is willing to pay, regardless of what you think it's worth.
